The Yamaha G5 is a revamped version of the entry-level Yamaha Libero. The G5 comes with a broad, V-shaped headlamp reflector encased in clear-lens glass and a cowl that imparts a more aerodynamic feel to the bike. The headlamp houses a 35W halogen bulb and the twin-pod instrument cluster includes a circular speedometer, the fuel gauge and warning lights

The Yamaha G5 is powered by a single cylinder, four-stroke, two-valve, air-cooled 106cc engine develops a peak power of 7.6 PS at 7,500 rpm and generates a maximum torque of 7.85 Nm at 6,000 rpm. An improved air induction system ensures a better breathing engine that burns fuel fully and so boosts performance and simultaneously reduces exhaust emissions.

The G5's frame continues to be the tubular dual cradle type and it uses the tubular swing arm though other bikes in the 100 cc segment feature box section swing arms for improved stability. A longer wheelbase than the competitors gives the bike a slight edge in the handling and stability parameters.
