Mahindra S201 (XUV300) To Launch In Earlier 2019

Mahindra continues to prove its dominance in the Indian auto market by the upcoming Mahindra S201 (or XUV300) that will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford Ecosport.

The second half of 2018 is a busy period for Mahindra& Mahindra Ltd with various product launches such as the Marazzo MPV, the upcoming Ssangyong Rexton-based SUV Y400 and the compact SUV named S201 that are under preparation for the reveal. Final works have been done for the official debut of the all-new SUV which is believed to be a bitter rival of the Vitara Brezza.

2019 Mahindra S201 is all set to keep up with the Vitara Brezza

According to some recent reports, the Mahindra S201 will mainly base on the modified Ssangyong Tivoli platform and will be positioned at the higher end of its segment. This top-spec model will be equipped with some unique features to make a difference with its rivals. It is likely to come with a panoramic sunroof to meet the increasing aspirations and needs of the mass-market customers. Inside the cabin, the much-awaited Mahindra S201 will appear with:

  • A large touchscreen infotainment system

  • Cruise control 

  • The unique dual-zone climate control system

Other standard features to be equipped:

  • Full LED headlamps with LED DRLs

  • Full LED tail lamps

  • 17-inch alloy wheels

Regarding the safety features, it is certain that the 2019 Mahindra S201 will bring in segment-first seven airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and rear parking sensors. The body of the compact SUV will resemble the Ssangyong Tivoli along with stylish front and rear design.

In terms of engine, the prospective Mahindra S201 is considered the most powerful compact SUV in the market.  It will come powered by the same 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel motor as the Marazzo MPV. The engine churns out 123 hp of max power and 300 Nm of peak torque. Compared with its direct competitors, the Maruti Vitara Brezza appears with a 1.3-litre diesel engine generating 90hp of power per 200 Nm units; meanwhile, the Tata Nexon comes with a 1.5-litre diesel that produces 110hp and 260Nm of torque.
