2018 Hyundai Kona Iron Man Special Edition Officially Debuted

Hyundai Kona SUV has got a special Iron Man superhero treatment as the Korean carmaker unveiled the Hyundai Kona Iron Man-inspired edition at the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con 2018 festival held in the USA from 19th to 22nd of July. The SUV took the centre stage which draws a special attention at the Marvel booth as it gets new design features both on exteriors and inside that closely resemble Tony Stark's Iron Man suit. This is the second time Hyundai and Marvel have come together to market each other's popular products. Earlier in the Marvel Studios’ movie Ant-Man and The Wasp, the all-new 2019 Veloster Turbo made its global debut.

This special edition of Hyundai Kona will have a limited global production run. Hyundai will begin the production of Kona SUV which will be sold in limited numbers worldwide in December 2018.

Regard of the outside, the two-tone colour exterior is an exclusive Iron Man red with matte grey. The ‘Stark Industries’ theme graphics and badging are featured around the crossover. In particular, the bonnet is outstanding with a red-detailed plastic vent, while a full-width Iron Man badge adorns the roof.

This limited edition SUV of Hyundai features a unique front-lighting signature, including a daytime running light form which has been tweaked to mimic the glowing eyes of the metal mask and eye shape from the Iron Man suit.

The other exterior highlights are the 18-inch alloy wheels with Iron Man mask centre caps, an Iron Man engraving for the D-pillars, and a dark chrome front grille.

Inside, the Hyundai Kona Iron Man edition is based on the limited-spec from the US market, albeit with additional red accents, a fancy instrument panel alongside a unique Iron Man gearshift lever knob and a special head’s up display. The signature of Tony Stark has also been added to the dashboard, while its seat fabric and gear knob feature a custom design.

In the Indian market, the Korean brand is gearing up to launch the all-electric version of the Kona, the Kona EV, to the country by mid-2019. Revealed at the 2018 Geneva motor show, it is the second electric model of Hyundai’s international line-up. The version that will be introduced in India is expected to be the one with a 39.2kWh battery pack. It has been claimed to deliver 134hp and 395Nm of torque and reach a range of 300km on a single charge. Hyundai is planning to locally assemble the model to keep prices competitive.
