Honda Motors has announced its plan to give a localization level of 68% for the tenth generation of Honda Civic which is projected to hit the Indian roads in 2019.

First showcased at the Auto Expo 2018, the all-new Honda Civic will reach our shores in early 2019. The Japanese manufacturer decides to implement the assembly work in India. In comparison with the 65% of localization level of the Honda CR-V which went on sale last month, the 2019 Honda Civic will get a tad higher localization at 68 per cent that enables an aggressive price in the market.

Honda Motors is preparing all sets to launch the forthcoming all-new Civic in India next year

Honda has revealed that the new Civic will enter the Indian car space via CKD kits imported from the Ayutthaya plant in Thailand and its assembly will take place at the Greater Noida plant.

“We had upgraded our Greater Noida based production facility before we started the production of the Honda CR-V 2018 to accommodate new models. The assembly lines at both of our plants (Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh and Tapukara, Rajasthan) are flexible and we can produce multiple models on them”, said Honda spokesperson.

The Civic is the longest selling automotive nameplate and the largest selling model of the celebrated Japanese automaker. It has been traded in 170 countries with more than 24 million customers around the world. Next year, the Honda Civic is confirmed to hit the Indian roads with a new diesel powertrain option along with a petrol engine as well. The comeback of the all-new Civic will potentially help Honda return in the segment leaders list in India as before.

The most-expected sedan is confirmed to launch with a vista of premium, youthful and sporty aesthetic design. It will be more elegant and bolder in appearance while being wider and more spacious than the 9th-gen Civic with an increase of 25% in torsional rigidity. Additionally, the powertrain will not dilute the Indian customer by adding a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine on offer together with a naturally aspirated petrol motor like the previous Civic.

With 68% of localization level and impressive upgrades in design and technology, the all-new sedan will take an aggressive role in the competition against Toyota Corolla, Skoda Superb and Hyundai Elantra. The expected price of the 2019 Honda Civic is at around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
