By festive season this year, Honda India is gearing up introducing the next-generation iteration of the CR-V SUV in India.

Indian markets got their first taste of the new Honda CR-V at the 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi. The carmaker had confirmed to launch the car in 2018 albeit the special launch date has yet to finalise. However, the new Honda CR-V is said to be launched ahead of the festive season this year which is around September or October. This also means that we can expect the deliveries of the new CR-V to begin in October 2018 which is coinciding with the 2018 Festive season. Being in the festival mood, this time usually witnesses the car sales in general rise exponentially. This helps get sales started for Honda’s CR-V on a strong note.

The fifth-gen Honda CR-V has already been on sale in several global markets. Now, it is Indian’s turn to finally have the car’s presence in the country. This is first CR-V to be launched in India. The SUV is foreseen to compete with big names as Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Isuzu MU-X and Skoda Kodiaq.

Launching with 3 rows of seating option, the 2018 model will offer seating capacity for 7 passengers. The new Honda CR-V reflects Honda’s designing language with the platform derived from the Honda Civic and then, grows in terms of dimensions. The SUV now grows 30 mm longer, and 35mm wider and taller, while the wheelbase has increased by 40 mm. The new dimension now makes the cabin more spacious than before.

In terms of design, the Honda CR-V offers a sharper and angular look. Up front, instead of the grille like the Honda City, the CR-V gets a thick chrome bar. Adding to this impressive front look, the LED headlamps and LED fog-lamps also shape the front.

Regard of the interior, Honda kicked a notch up to the quality to come with premium quality material for upholstery, panels and in-car controls. The centre stage on the dashboard is taken by a 7-inch touchscreen display with a navigation system developed with Garmin. The system will also come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone connectivity, making it more contemporary.

The new 2018 model will also be the first CR-V to come with a diesel powertrain - a new 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine which will unleash about 120 horses and will develop 300 Nm of peak torque. The petrol version will get a naturally aspirated 2.4-litre and four-cylinder engine which is expected to make 184 bhp. Upon launch the 2018 Honda CR-V SUV is expected to come with a price tag starting from ₹ 26 lakh, going all the way up to ₹ 30 lakh.
