The new-gen Jeep Wrangler SUV has disappointingly got a 1-star rating from the Euro NCAP safety test owing to the lack of updated active and passive safety systems

According to the European New Car Assessment Program, the all-new Jeep Wrangler has scored badly 1 star in the adult and children occupant protection. Despite being a new model of the iconic and legendary carmaker, the Jeep Wrangler comes up with only a seatbelt reminder along with a simple driver-set speed limiter, driver and passenger airbags, side and side chest airbags that resulted in the disappointment in the crash test result.

The Euro NCAP test result shows various issues on the body structure of the Jeep Wrangler

As compared to its sibling- Jeep Compass which has received a plenty of public praises for achieving 5 stars rating recently, the Jeep Wrangler fells into various structural issues during the test. In which, the connection between the trans-fascia and the A-pillar was damaged that shows the unstable body shell to withstand in the higher pressure. Besides, the footwell’s distortion revealed that the SUV’s structure has reached the limit of its integrity.

The car still assured some protection to the chest compression of the driver to a marginal level during the crash but failed to deliver good protection for the rear passenger in the neck, high-shoulder and the chest. However, the car performed excellently in the side barrier test with max points for all critical areas.

The car scored just 1 star in the overall safety protections

Commenting about the Wrangler’s test result, Michiel Van Ratingen, the Secretary-General of Euro NCAP said,

"It is truly disappointing to see a brand-new car being put on sale in 2018 with no autonomous braking system and no lane assistance. It is high time we saw a product from the FIAT-Chrysler group offering safety to rival its competitors."
