All Things You Need To Know About The Mahindra S201

Mahindra & Mahindra has recently announced that it is ready to expand its range of Indian products with the launch of a series of new vehicles. The domestic Indian automaker has launched the MPV (Marazzo) and will introduce a compact SUV (S201) and an exceptional SUV (XUV700/Rexton) in the coming time. While we have talked a lot about the Marazzo and XUV700, there has been somewhat little information regarding the S201. 1. Mahindra S201 is originally a Tivoli

Although the launch of the Ssangyong Tivoli in the Indian auto market has been skipped, the domestic Indian auto maker is going to replace this vehicle with a new Mahindra S201, which is, in fact, a Mahindra-spec version of the Tivoli with considerable changes. The S201 compact SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine with four cylinders which can deliver 123 bhp of max power and 300 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual and semi-automatic transmission. With this motor, the S201 will possibly be the most powerful compact SUV in its segment.

Mahindra SUVs are famous for the powerful diesel motors. However, petrol engines are never really an advantage of the company. The Mahindra 201 is expected to be the first SUV to offer a low-displacement turbo petrol motor. This engine provides the compact SUV with a combination of both impressive performance and mileage. This petrol motor will be a 1.2-litre unit with three cylinders, generating a max power of 140PS and a peak torque of 200 Nm. The power is sent to the four wheels through a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.

4. Mahindra S201 will have a longer 7-seat sibling

There are, in fact, two Tivoli-based Mahindra compact SUVs projected to be launched in India. The vehicle competing against the Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecospot and Tata Nexon is a 5-seat vehicle which will be under 4 meters long. The next one is longer with the addition of 200mm in length. It will be equipped with 7 seats and compete against the Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta.

5. Mahindra S201 will be a NuvoSport substitution

The NuvoSport has spread disappointment across the Indian auto market. The S201 is expected to be a far more modern vehicle in comparison with the NuvoSport. Based on the Tivoli, it can be expected to be a top-notch vehicle and effectively replace the NuvoSport but many times better than its counterpart.
