Bajaj Qute Electric To Debut Next Year

Bajaj will be another Indian auto maker to jump on to the EV bandwagon. The electric version of the Bajaj Qute will be rolled out next year.

At the press conference held on 21 January, Bajaj Auto has introduced their new brand identity, known as “World’s Favorite Indian”. Along with that, they also opened up about their plan which including the introduction of Qute’s electric version in India.  

Bajaj Qute is the Indian version of quadricycle. This vehicle will serve as a low-cost auto-rickshaw alternative. The Qute will sit below the entry-level passenger vehicle and above the three-wheeler vehicles. Being approved by most of the states, the Qute will soon hit the Indian roads soon. It is expected to launch in March.

The launch of this quadricycle will mark the beginning of a new segment in India. It is the result of Bajaj’s consistent effort in pushing the government toward allowing permission for this category of vehicles.

Besides launching electric three-wheelers in the Indian market, Bajaj also confirmed the introduction of electric Qute next year. Revealed by Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj, the electric quadricycle will be launched around the same time the new BSVI emission norms come into effect.

At launch, Bajaj Qute will be offered with petrol, CNG and LPG engine option. With a small 216cc petrol engine, the Qute could put out the power of 13.5 and 19.6Nm. And this unit is BSVI-complaint as well. The transmission duty is done by a five-speed manual gearbox. The top speed that it could reach is 70mpl and the fuel efficiency rates at 35kmpl.
