As we know, the new-generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR is closed to its launch on January 23, 2019. The much-awaited model has broken its cover to reveal us some exclusive information about its exterior and interior design. Slated to make plenty of changes on the new car, the 2019 WagonR is expected to be a sleeper hit in the Indian auto market. So what’s been changed on the next-gen Maruti Suzuki WagonR? Here’s the detailed comparison about the old vs new Maruti WagonR.

1. New WagonR vs Old WagonR: Dimensions

As per the leaked images, brochure and teasers from the carmaker, the all-new Maruti Suzuki grows in dimensions to become a bigger and taller hatchback compared to the previous version. Getting the total width of 1,620 mm, the big new WagonR is 145 mm wider than the old hatchback. It also holds 5 mm taller with the overall height figure of 1,675 mm. With 35 mm increase in the wheelbase, the cabin space of the WagonR has been enlarged accordingly, marking the most spacious car in the carmaker’s lineup. And that’s it, the meaning of the spacious star, in the automaker’s point of view, is to add as much as confidence and character to every way it goes, every drive it performs, and every driver it matches.

2. New WagonR vs Old WagonR: Platform

It’s a massive surprise that Maruti Suzuki does not resort to retain the same platform as the outgoing WagonR but adopts the Strong Heartect Platform. Now that we expected some months ago that Maruti Suzuki was less possible to utilize the stronger Platform in the all-new vehicle due to the higher expenses but the official images released recently proved the contrast. Sharing the new platform with other siblings like the Maruti Swift, Maruti Baleno and the Ertiga as well, the new WagonR does a better job in terms of safety. The advanced absorbing body structure not only enables the lighter weight, more fuel efficient but also enhances the utmost rigidity and stability along every drive.

3. New WagonR vs Old WagonR: Exterior Design

The new hatchback is quite bigger than the outgoing model

Moving to the exterior aesthetics of the WagonR, it comes up with a huge difference. A bunch of updates have been made in its styling design to make a refresh in the outside looks. Maruti Suzuki excels in retaining the tall boy silhouette which has made the WagonR’s name in the Indian market but still offers a fresher looking when it comes to the exterior design. Shifting the focus on robust design language, the 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR gets a new front fascia with the squared-out front end, new sets of sweptback headlamps, revived bumper and black elements added to the C-pillar for a floating roof effect. The tall taillights roll out the fascinating vista in the new hatchback while 4 new body colours come to keep it updated to the modern styles. Overall, the new WagonR is considered more handsome and premium than the previous-gen WagonR in the auto space.

4. New WagonR vs Old WagonR: Interior Features

Expected to continue the strongly peerless reputation in the country, the largest automotive company’s new WagonR is well-equipped with the more developed interior set-up. For the first time ever, a touchscreen infotainment system appears in the Maruti Suzuki’s hatch instead of the double-din system. The heavily-crafted dual-tone cabin houses a 7.0-litre infotainment screen which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay whilst a new smarter steering wheel is scheduled to come as well. Announced to be the compliment for the smart and modern driving styles, the 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR is even made available with all-power windows, floating dashboard, large analogue speedometer along with manual AC vents.

By making the road safer, the new WagonR gets major tweaks to stand ahead of the competition and competent enough to compete the new Hyundai Santro in the massive race.
