Demand for Suzuki Jimny is On The Rise

Order for the new Jimny is increasing unstoppably. But not every customer with interest will get one in any time soon.

Even though the demand for the new Jimny is increasing, dealers in some markets still have to say no to new orders due to the limited stock. The waiting time has now gone up to one year.

In the UK market alone, Suzuki has resigned 1,200 for in 2019. And they will not take deposits for the new request, instead, all the new orders will be processed as "expression of interest".

The new Jimny is manufactured at the plant in Kosai, Japan. Productions from this plant will be allocated for both the domestic market as well as international market. However, as the manufacturing capacity is limited, plus the high demand of the Japanese customers, the international market has to suffer a shortage of supply.

The demand for the new Suzuki Jimny has gone beyond the manufacturers' supply

In response to a customer, the dealer claimed that supply for the European is restricted because the Japanese automaker doesn’t want to increase their CO2 standard. The Jimny, with its low fuel efficiency if being sold freely will take a toll on Suzuki’s average CO2, which would attract fines from European Union.

For the UK market, it is still possible that there will be an increase in stock for Jimny if they draw from EU’s scheme on CO2 reduction as the UK has left the union.

Suzuki would not have to meet such a dilemma if they equip the Jimny with a more eco-friendly engine like the BoosterJet 1.0-litre turbocharged engine or a mild-hybrid system like what they offer on the Baleno.

Even though Jimny is meeting huge success on the international market, its chance of being launched in India is still slim. Next year, updated WagonR will arrive and it will be followed by the EV version in 2020.
