Hyundai has, for the first time, four models in the top 10 best-selling car in India. Read on for more details.

Though Hyundai has always lived its life under the shadow of the giant Maruti Suzuki in Indian market, looks like Hyundai is making all the right moves with four of its models entering the top 10 best selling cars, for the first time.

Hyundai, being the second largest car company in India, has taken four out of ten slots here. The rest 6 slots belong to Maruti Suzuki.

This feat couldn't have become possible without the newly-launched Santro. The 2018 Santro has lived up or even gone beyond the expectations. It has broken the record of the monthly sales number in Hyundai’s history. It is not only a big deal for Hyundai alone, the Santro, in fact, has been the models to take the shortest time to make it to the top 10. The new hatchback only took two months since its launch in October to embark on the 10th rank. In November only, Hyundai has sold over 9,000 units of the Santro.

The other three positions on the top 10 include i20, Creta and Grand i10, all of them are familiar faces on the list. These models take the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th position, respectively. From October to November, the i20 – Hyundai’s most-sold car – has 10,555 units sold. Hyundai Creta has always been the segment-leading SUV with 9,677 units – it is also the only SUV to be counted on the lot, while the Grand i10 has made it to the top 10 with 9,252 units.

Despite taking four out of ten seats on the list, Hyundai sold less than what they did this time last year. All models from Hyundai’s on-going production line have added up to the total sales number of 43,709 unit last month. But this downward tendency is a common struggle for most of the carmakers in India now.

The entering of Hyundai’s fourth most-sold car marked the leave of Maruti Suzuki Celerio on top 10. In October, the Celerio occupied the 10th position. However, it has been kicked out by the all-new Santro.

On Hyundai’s side, the South Korea car maker is targeting 50,000 units sale monthly in the near future. To realize this goal, Hyundai will introduce a new compact SUV Styx, along with the new version of Grand i10.
