Nissan India has revealed the production model of the India-spec Nissan Kicks prior to its launch next year in India. Below, we have collected the top five features of the new compact SUV.

The India-spec Nissan Kicks is inspired by the current-gen X-Trail and Qashqai and bear a strong resemblance to the global model in terms of the cosmetic features. The Japanese automaker considers the new Kicks to be a step towards the future with the contemporary design, smart technologies and powerful engines.

Nissan India has disclosed the exterior of the Kicks SUV, but still kept the interior and the engines a secret, so in this article, we will focus more on the exterior and the information on the other aspects is just our expectations.

1. Nissan Kicks’ Contemporary Exterior

The Nissan Kicks’ exterior has been unveiled by the Japanese automaker before its launch in January 2019. Below are some of most striking exterior features of the compact SUV.

In the front

  • Two-tone paint scheme: The contemporary styling of the Nissan Kicks comes with a two-tone paint scheme, which contributes to its glamorous on-road presence. The compact SUV is also reported to be available with a wide range of colour options when launched in India.

  • V-motion grille: The typical V-motion grille of Nissan makes the Kicks harmonious with other SUVs of the company.

  • LED headlamps and daytime running lights: The Kicks is equipped with LED headlamps on the top variants with integrated multi LED DRLs.

  • Fog lamps: The fog lamps, which are neatly incorporated with the front bumper, have also been added to the feature list of the top-end variants.

On the sides

  • Shark fin antenna on the roof rails: The shark fin antenna and the roof rails contribute to the appeal of the exterior.

  • Floating roof: Like many other automobile manufacturers, Nissan also has added a floating roof to Kick’s exterior. Thanks to the black accent on the C-pillar, the car body and the roof look like two distinctive parts that makes the car more fashionable.

  • Alloy wheels: The Kicks sits on the 17-inch two-tone five-spoke alloy wheels which are proportionate and make the vehicle more appealing.

In the rear

  • Boomerang taillights: Another element which also adds to the impressive appearance of the vehicle is the Boomerang taillights, which are also a signature feature of Nissan cars.

360-deg Camera

  • Cameras can be found on the front logo, outside rear-view mirrors and the tailgate, which will offer the driver a 360-degree surround view.

2. Nissan Kicks’ Strong Structure and Great Dimension

The Nissan Kicks is reported to be developed on the GRAPHENE (Gravity-philic Energy Absorption) structure. As its name suggests, this structure can absorb impact energy, making the compact SUV more stable, more secure and more durable on the Indian roads, already well-known for their poor conditions.

In terms of the proportions, the Nissan Kicks is 4,384mm long, 1,813mm wide, 1,656mm high with a 2,673mm wheelbase. From the dimensions, we can expect the interior, though not revealed yet, to offer the passengers a roomy space.

3. Nissan Kicks’ Modern Interior

The India-bound Nissan Kicks is anticipated to come with an all-black cabin. The dashboard will be equipped with a 3-spoke multi-function driving wheel and a central infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A 360-degree camera is also likely to be included in the interior feature list of the Nissan Kicks. The driving wheel, air conditioner vents and the digital instrument panel will sport contrasting chrome and silver accents.

4. Nissan Kicks’ powerful engine

The forthcoming Kicks compact SUV will receive power from two engine options: the 1.6L petrol and 1.5L diesel motors borrowed from the Renault Duster. The 1,498cc petrol motor is good for a max power of 105bhp at 5,600rpm and a peak torque of 142Nm at 4,000rpm. The 1461cc diesel engine can generate two states of tune: 85PS and 110PS. While the former can deliver 84bhp at 3750rpm against 200Nm at 1900rpm, the latter can produce 108bhp at 3900rpm against 248Nm at 2250rpm. Nissan is rumoured to offer a different size of the diesel engine, but it has not been confirmed by the Japanese automaker yet.

The two engine options will be mated to a standard MT unit. AMT option will also be offered initially or on a later date after launch.

5. Nissan Kicks Price and Rivalry in India

Once launched in India, the Nissan Kicks is expected to be priced between Rs 11 lakhs and Rs 16 lakhs. At this price range and all the features on offer, it will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, Mahindra XVU500 and the upcoming Tata Harrier.
