The Mahindra XUV300 will be launched in India on February 14. Recently, a demo version of the compact SUV was spotted on its way to a dealership.

Borrowing the platform of the SsangYong Tivoli, the Mahindra XUV300 is the only all-new model of the domestic automaker scheduled to be launched this year. It is available in four variants: W4, W6, W8 and W8 (O) and six exterior paint schemes: Pearl White, Napoli Black, Aquamarine, Red Rage, Sun Burst Orange and Dsat Silver with the demo version covered in a pearl white scheme.

As regards the exterior, the Mahindra XUV300 is equipped with such features as projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 17’’ alloy wheels and LED taillights. The cabin is replete with a touchscreen infotainment unit which supports GPS navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, sunroof, leather seat coverings, speed control, and a two-zone temperature control system with the last one being one of the segment-leading features of the compact SUV. More noteworthily, the Mahindra XUV300 is expected to ensure the perfect safety for both the driver and the passengers with the first-in-the-segment seven airbags and four-wheel disc brakes, dynamic stability control and reverse parking camera offered in the top-spec variant.

Under the hood of the upcoming XUV are a 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol motor and a 1.5L 4-cylinder diesel unit borrowed from the Mahindra Marazzo. While the former can deliver a maximum power of 128 bhp and a peak torque of 160 Nm, the latter is good for 123 bhp against 300 Nm. The transmission duties are undertaken by a standard 6-speed MT gearbox. The engines deliver best-in-the-segment torque but miss an AMT unit which is expected to be introduced later.

Once launched in India on the 15th of February this year, the Mahindra XUV300 is anticipated to be priced from Rs 7.5 lakh to 8 lakh (ex-showroom) with exports commencing soon after. It is likely to become a formidable competitor against the existing compact SUVs such as the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza.
