New teaser of the Mahindra XUV300 has been released, showing the baby-XUV on its wind tunnel test. The test is taken in Turin, Italy ahead of their launch on 15th February 2019.

Mahindra & Mahindra has released a new teaser video of the XUV300 undergoing wind tunnel tests in Turin, Italy. For the uninitiated, a wind tunnel test is designed to analyze a car’s aerodynamic performance and use the acquired data for further refinements. The new advertisement-like teaser even reveals some key features of the upcoming Maruti Vitara Brezza-rival.

As can be seen in the video, the Mahindra XUV300 features a somewhat boxy front-end that has a touch of aggression due to the comprehensive lighting system with stylish LED DRLs and projector headlights. In the side profile, it features dual tone diamond cut alloy wheels that flank the flared wheel arches. The wheelbase of the XUV300 stays the same as that of the Ssangyong Tivoli, with which it shares the X100 architecture. However, the manufacturer claims that the baby-XUV has little in common with the Tivoli as it enjoys a distinct Cheetah-inspired design. The XUV300 is the second new model from Mahindra in recent times, after the shark-inspired Marazzo, to take design inspiration from a living creature.

Mahindra hasn't yet revealed the details of the specifications, but they have confirmed that the XUV300 will come with both diesel and petrol engine options. These engines are claimed to have the highest torque output in the class. It is expected that the diesel version will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine while the petrol version might be packed with a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit. A six-speed manual transmission is standard for both the motors and an optional AMT will be offered at a later stage.

Mahindra XUV300 will be offered in both diesel and petrol engine

Following the launch of the Mahindra XUV300 in petrol and diesel variants, an all-electric version is also expected to arrive by 2020. The electric version will offer two configurations, with at least one of them being a 380-volt battery pack developed under the partnership of Ssangyong and Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd. On the feature front, Mahindra promises to equip the XUV300 with a host of segment-leading features, including dual-zone automatic climate control, full disc brake system, and seven airbags. Once launched, the XUV300 will compete directly with the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the likes. It is expected to be priced from 8 lakh to 11 lakh.
