Maruti Suzuki to launch new Alto Taxi in India - Will it be the Alto K10 or Alto 800?

Maruti Suzuki is going to launch 2018 Maruti Alto taxi. The new Alto will target at the taxi cars market. It will serve as a step toward expanding their market on this segment.

The small cars like the Alto are much likely to run inside crowded cities like Delhi or Mumbai. On other sparer than these metropolises, Maruti WagonR or Swift Dzire seems to be more popular. Recognized a good room in the smaller taxi car market, Maruti has put up the strategy to penetrate this segment with the Alto. And it seems to be the right time for Maruti to enter the game. 

Even though there isn't any official statement yet, the leaked brochure has indirectly confirmed the launch of 2018 Maruti Alto taxi. However, it still remains unanswered which Alto – Alto 800 or Alto K10 - will be included in the Tour H1 (Alto taxi family).

As far as we know, the Alto taxi will get manual AC, power steering, front power windows, and rear door child lock. Airbags are available but not as a standard feature and only driver airbags are offered. The exterior will include features like black bumpers, door handles, and ORVMs.

Tour H1 will come with a speed limiter to be in line with the new rule which requires all taxis to have this device.

The base variant of Maruti Alto 800 is priced at Rs 2.51 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) whereas the price of the Alto K10 starts at Rs 3.3 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). It is expected that the Tour H1 will be on the same price bracket. However, it might be slightly higher than the Alto 800 LXI. Tour H1 will be powered by a 0.8-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine which could return up to 48PS of power and 69Nm of torque. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. 

Other Tour cars from Maruti are the Swift, Eeco, Celerio and in the time to come, Alto and the next-gen Ertiga.
