MG First SUV Spied Testing; The Second and Third SUV To Come in 2019

MG Motor will focus their work on the SUV segment. Their first models will all SUVs but in different segments. The two of them will be powered by internal combustion engines, one car will be fully electrified. The first SUV which is based on the Baojun 530 will arrive by mid-2019, and the next electric model is due to launch by April 2020. The third is scheduled to come in September 2020.

The first SUV has undergone testing, preparing for the upcoming launch in 2020. It has been spied testing in Ahmedabad. The spy shots suggest that MG will be Audi-inspired with a similar LED turn indicator. It also marks the MG Baojun-530-based as the first car in the under-20-lakh segment to get the features.

As far as we can see, the SUV, presumably named the Gloster, might come with projector headlamps and LED DRLs, thin LED tail lamps, roof spoiler, and roof rails and electrically adjustable ORVMs. This five-seater SUV will be on the bigger side, packed with loads of advanced features.

The MG has acquired General Motors’ plant in Halol, and all of their production of the Indian market will get localized here, which will help MG to keep control over the price.

MG also revealed that their second SUV will come in April 2020. With help from their parent company, SAIC who has made a range of EV in the Chinese market, it is expected that MG’s electric vehicles will base on the MG ZS or Roewe RX5. This EV possibly takes on the like of Hyundai Kona when it is launched.

The third car from MG which is confirmed to come in September 2020. It could sit either on the large SUV or the compact SUV segment. The third SUV might be rival to Skoda Kodiaq or Honda CR-V.
