New Mercedes-Benz GLS to Break Cover at Los Angeles Auto show 2018

The new Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV is set to be introduced at Los Angeles Auto show 2018 which will take place from 30, November to 9 December this year.

In the effort to expand the luxury Maybach line, Mercedes-Benz, the luxury German automaker, schedules on making the debut for their Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV, which could be named the GLS 560, at the Los Angeles Auto show this year. The show will take place from 30, November to 9 December at the LA Convention Center, Los Angeles. The premium luxury SUV is the third-generation of Mercedes' largest SUV.

Maybach has been considered an important drive force to push the Mercedes demand for luxury models, especially regarding the SUV segment. Maybach models have proven to be a solid choice among the luxury sector with some big names as Land Rover, Bentley which has been already established and gained the notable success with Range Rover and Bentayga.

Regarding the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, it is outstanding in both of exterior and interior. The exterior is expected to update with a host of new equipment including

Vertical grille slats
Chrome exterior detailing
Distinct badging
Unique wheels

The GLS will borrow the design from the latest Modular High Architecture (MHA) platform which shares with the smaller GLE. This platform is expected to provide a significant reduction in terms of kerb weight over the old GLS. Apart from the platform, the model will also build on the initiatives underpinned from the two-year-old Mercedes which is the Maybach S-Class. The GLS will share the same cues such as an advanced four-wheel-drive and the basic aluminium-and-steel bodyshell.

Aiming at offering a roomier and luxurious layout, the interior is likely to be available with a seven-seat layout for five or even six captain's chairs.

In terms of performance, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is likely to be only available with the AMG-developed M177 V8 petrol engine. This new engine is equipped with a cylinder shutdown function designed for the shake of added fuel savings in city driving. It will replace the twin-turbocharged 4.7-litre V8 in the outgoing Mercedes-Benz GLS 500.
