2018 Datsun Go Plus and Plus+: Features and Specifications Explained

The new-gen Datsun Go and Go+ was revealed a few days ago and have been confirmed to be released into the Indian auto market on October 10, 2018. They are expected to get novel features in terms of both exterior and interior but remain the same engine.

The facelifted Datsun Go and Go+ were released into the Indonesian auto market this year and is now planned to be debuted in India. Datsun Go+ is the most reasonably-priced MPV in India. Some of the design cues of the vehicle have been borrowed from the Go. Both of the vehicles are underpinned by Nissan’s V platform and are produced at the Renault-Nissan Alliance factory in Chennai. The new versions of the two Datsun cars are expected to sport some new exterior and interior features but no changes to the mechanics.

1. Datsun Go Plus and Plus+’s refreshed exterior

In terms of the exterior, the Datsun Go and Go+’s features will be a little bit updated with new diamond-cut alloy wheels measuring 14 inches. Even the top variants of the outgoing Go and Go+ plus models are not equipped with alloy wheels. It is also likely to come with LED DRLs, a wiper and a washer in the rear which have left stalk with controls, newly-designed front grille, updated front and rear bumpers. All of these will contribute to the premium look of the two new vehicles, making them more attractive to customers.

The Datsun Go and Go+ will also get new colours. While the Go is expected to be painted in an Amber Orange colour tone, the Go+ is likely to get Sunset Brown. Currently, the two Datsun cars are offered in five colours: silver, blue, red, grey, white.

2. Datsun Go Plus and Plus+’s updated interior

As regards the interior, Datsun Go and Go+ will not make you disappointed as they are likely to be packed with a wide range of safety, comfort and entertainment features.

With respect to safety, a wide range of features will be added to ensure a safe journey for the customers:

  • Twin front airbags

  • Parking sensors in the rear

  • Driver seat-belt reminder

  • ABS with BA and EBD 

All of these features are provided as standard on the two Datsun vehicles.

Regarding entertainment and comfort aspect, most outstandingly, a new dashboard with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports voice recognition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity will be available with the facelifted Go and Go+. What’s more, power steering wheel and power windows will also be equipped on the two facelifted vehicles as standard features.

3. Datsun Go Plus and Plus+’s unchanged engine and transmission

The Datsun Go and Go+ will be powered by the same engine as the outgoing model. To be more specific, they will receive power from a 1.2L petrol motor, which can churn out 78 bhp of max power and 104 Nm of peak torque. The power will be spread to the four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. So, no changes are expected to be made in terms of mechanical specifications on the facelifted model of the Datsun Go and Go+.

The new Datsun Go and Go+ are anticipated to keep their current price. At present, the Go’s price ranges from Rs 3.38 to 4.41 lakh whereas the Go+ is priced in the range of Rs 3.95 to 5.25 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The facelifted Datsun and Datsun Go+, two best-selling car models of Datsun, will indeed help refresh the company’s line-up. These cars mark Datsun’s one further step into the teeming SUV segment. The direct rival of the two Datsun vehicles will be the Nissan Kicks SUV. It is expected that the two automakers will consider adding more features to their cars and keep the price as competitive as possible to attract more customers.
