2019 BMW X5 All Set To Be Launched In India On May 16

BMW India's sports activity vehicle segment is all set to welcome the latest-gen BMW X5 on May 16, following the launch of 2019 BMW X4 in the country.

That’s the “hook” from the German automobile giant in order to tell the world that BMW is ready to largely dominate the fourth-largest auto market in the world. 2019 is foreseen a busy year of BMW India with as many as 12 new car launches in the pipeline to enter the country. The 2019 BMW X5, as revealed by BMW, will be soon introduced in the domestic market on May 16, 2019, with the exclusive xDrive30d variant. This is the second model launch of the German manufacturer in the year, first being the BMW X4 which has been on sale since January 21, 2019.

The fourth-gen BMW X5 shows off an iconic radical BMW’s family look, with a more rugged and sophisticated silhouette. A large prominent kidney grille as conventional as the outgoing BMW vehicles is mounted up front, while a new set of adaptive headlamps with Laserlight elements and LED daytime running lights clinch to 10 times brighter than the conventional units. The rear profile sports a horizontal-mounted LED taillight setup rolling out a more imposing quotient compared to the earlier versions.

It is the largest model in the X5’s lineup with proportionate dimensions of 35 mm longer, 32 mm wider and 11mm taller when compared to its predecessor. The wheelbase, at the same time, is given an extra 42 mm over the outgoing model. Overall, the fourth-gen SUV measures the length, width, height and wheelbase of 4.921 mm, 1.970 mm, 1.737 mm and 2.975 mm, respectively which are all the way up to facilitate an ample space on the inside along with a hefty cargo capacity of 645 litres or 860 litres with all rear seat down.

In a quest to further broaden the range of high budget customers in India who enthuses driving fast, the 2019 BMW X5, as stated above, will be available with a diesel engine, or better says, the xDrive30d variant at the initial stage. It will come mounted with a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbo-diesel motor option good to make 265 hp of max power and a decent 620 Nm torque. A later on, BMW will satisfy the Indian petrolheads with the X5 xDrive40i variant in the horizons to reach our shores á well. That said, it packs in a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine tuned for a staggering power of 340 hp along with 500 Nm of peak torque. Both these engines will be coupled with a standard 8-speed AT supported by a BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

As per BMW's dealers, the sporty variant of the 2019 X5, namely the BMW X5 M Sport is also in the offing to come to us soon. It will be a pricier model with sportier bumpers, additional advanced features as well as bigger wheels targeted for high-performance SUV enthusiasts. What’s more, the automotive company also plans on phasing out some outgoing slow-selling derivatives so as to avoid the lineup complexities, globally. The 3-series GT, for example, is now considered not a successor in the automotive world.
