2019 Honda Accord Launched in Select ASEAN Markets, Comes With 1.5-litre Petrol Engine Option

The 2019 Honda Accord had its first public showcase at the International Motor Show held in Thailand on November last year. It has just gone on sale in the Thai market and is currently showcased at the ongoing Bangkok Motor Show 2019

Uncovered at the 2018 Thailand Motor Show, the 10th-generation Honda Accord is looked to mark its first step into Thailand and other ASEAN markets sooner or later. When putting the all-new Accord with the outgoing model at the same place, the fresher shows off a bolder stance with “cutthroat” units of measurement over its predecessor. The new Accord now measures explicitly 4879 mm in overall length, 1859 mm in width, 1450 mm in height while stretching the wheelbase a little to 2829 mm. The car sits on a set of 19-inch, five-spoke alloys along with a better ground clearance than the earlier version.

The biggest talking point of the model here stands under the bonnet where accommodates a brand new low-capacity engine option. The 2019 Honda sedan employs a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that outputting a decent power-torque of 190 horsepower and 243 Nm units. At the same time, the new Accord also carries a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine underneath, mounted with an electric motor all bumping up the total figures of 125 hp and 315 Nm units.

From the visual standpoint, the 2019 Honda Accord looks distinctive through the company’s latest design philosophy which gives out a really modern premium sedan ever since the launch. The LED headlamps and fog lamps shrink a bit to feature a sleeker look while the generous utilization of chrome accents emphasizing the car's entire superior quotient. The rear fascia is highlighted with C-shaped tail lights and a boot integrated spoiler as well.

In essence, the interior of the Accord has been the talk of the town globally right from its premiere. A freshened cabin layout has been wrapped off with floating-type touchscreen infotainment supported by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 450-watt audio system featuring 10 speakers and a subwoofer, a semi-digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, new leatherette-wrapped upholstery, 12-way power adjustable driver seat with memory function as well as a 4-way power-adjustable lumbar support. Adaptive cruise control, head-up display, front-rear parking sensors with 360-degree camera, wireless charging and Honda Smart Parking Assist are to further escalate the sense of comfort.

The advance safety suite of the 2019 Honda Accord is also worth noting here, including front, side, knee and overhead airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, seatbelt reminder with pre-tensioners and an advanced security system. Further driver assistances include lane departure warning, auto emergency braking and road departure mitigation.

When considering an extremely gloomy sale performance of the 9th-gen model last year (0 units registered in 2018), the next-gen Honda Accord is not likely to make its entry to India. Currently, the existing Accord Hybrid has entered our country via CBU format at the price of Rs 45 Lakh.
