The upgraded Honda BR-V has been officially disclosed at the 2019 Indonesia International Motor Show. Nevertheless, the India-spec model has yet to confirm by the Japanese auto manufacturer.

The facelifted Indonesia-bound Honda BR-V has experienced some minor cosmetic tweaks. In terms of the exterior, it is equipped with newly designed bumpers, a brand-new radiator grille, restyled fog lamp housings and new spoilers. It also comes with DRLs and new headlight inserts. Because of the new faux skid plates in both of the front and rear, the car now looks much more robust.

Coming to the rear, apart from some minor alterations to the bumper, the BR-V remains unchanged. In terms of the interior, the BR-V features a dark grey paint scheme. Also, red stitching on the seats and a central armrest are also available, but only on the top-spec variant.

The interior of the 2019 Honda BR-V also experiences some minor changes.

Regards the mechanical specifications, the updated Honda BR-V remains unchanged. In the Indonesia market, it continues to keep under its hood a 1.5-litre  i-VTEC petrol motor which can deliver a maximum power of 120 PS and a peak torque of 145 Nm at  4,600 rpm. The transmission duties are undertaken by a 6-speed MT or CVT gearbox. In India, an optional 1.5-litre -DTEC diesel unit is also on the lineup. This engine is good for 100 PS at 3,600 rpm against 200 Nm at 1,750 rpm. It currently conforms to the BS-IV and will soon be upgraded to comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission standards.

The current-gen Honda BR-V was first launched in India back in May 2016. Not having recorded great success like the Honda Amaze or the Honda City, the Honda BR-V has witnessed a remarkable decline in annual sales by 42% Y-o-Y to 7,140 units, which means that the monthly sales figure of the SUV is only 595 units, a low number in comparison with its competitors.

Due to its low sales number, the Honda BR-V may be discontinued in the Indian auto market. Just as the Honda Mobolio facelifted will never come to India shores, the Honda BR-V may experience a similar scenario.
