After being away from the Indian market for almost 7 years, the Honda Civic brand has finally made its re-entry in India. The highly-awaited latest-gen Honda Civic has marked its comeback to India at the price of Rs 17.70 Lakh (for base trim) up to Rs 22.30 lakh (for top-end variant).
The new-gen Honda Civic has been officially launched from Thursday, March 7, 2019
Being the Japanese brand’s largest-selling nameplate worldwide, the Honda Civic is expected to redefine its prominence in the automotive space with extensive revisions following the changing aspirations and needs of the car freaks worldwide and in India as well. With in-depth understandings of the current enthusiasts’ predilection, Honda paid more attention to the India-spec Civic with massive upgrades in the overall design, utility and performance. The ground clearance of the new Civic has been increased by 20 mm at the front and 15 mm at the rear to make it convertible with the global specifications.
The all-new Honda Civic shows up on the strongest conquering spirit
The 2019 Honda Civic measures the length of 4,656 mm, the width of 1,799 mm and the height of 1,433 mm overall along with 2,700 mm of the wheelbase. These big proportions result in the availability of 430 litres of cargo capacity and the generous space inside the cabin. As an iconic avatar in the C-segment sedan, the all-new Honda Civic carries out the naturally-aspirated i-VTEC and i-DTEC engines under the hood. The 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine is equipped with a CVT transmission unit to produce 141 PS of power at 6,500 rpm and 174 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. Meanwhile, the 1.6-litre diesel burner delivers power to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission and churns out 120 PS power at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm units at 2,000 rpm. Fuel economy is completely what the Civic sedan to be proud of. It returns the fuel efficiency rating of 16.5 kmpl for the petrol model and the best-in-class 26.8 kmpl for the diesel version. As far as we know that the previous generation of Civic was phased out from Honda India’s lineup due to the absence of oil burner option. That said, the 10th-gen Honda Civic with the diesel iteration this time makes the biggest and strongest footsteps ever to come back to the right-hand-drive country.
