2019 Honda Civic Production Commences At HCIL’s Greater Noida Plant

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has embarked on the production of 2019 Honda Civic which is set to be launched on March 7, 2019, at the company’s greater Noida Plant. Bookings for the all-new Civic has been started earlier this month at a token amount of Rs 31,000 across the dealerships.

Since this has been a highly anticipated launch in India, we are receiving an outstanding response during pre-launch phase. In just 7 days, we have exceeded our expected 3-week pre-booking numbers which is a testament to the excitement the iconic Honda Civic has generated amongst customers.”, said Mr Rajesh Goel, Sr. Vice President & Director of Honda Cars India Ltd when commenting about the start of the new Civic production at greater Noida facility recently.

As far as it’s commonly known, the Honda Civic is the longest running and largest selling nameplate of the Japanese automotive company in the global space. The latest-gen Civic is in the pipeline to come on the 7th of March, expected to be the much-anticipated facelifted model in the C-segment. First unveiled in August 2018, the all-new Honda Civic undergoes major tweaks in the exterior and interior packages aimed to blow a fresher air into the sedan segment as well as to redefine its name in the Indian space. The tenth-generation avatar will represent a new premium flamboyant characteristics with sharper LED headlamps and C-shaped LED tail lamps, redesigned front grille and bumper with chrome garnishes, chrome-plated door handles, left-wing mirror with 80-degree camera view and turn indicators mounted on the ORVMs.

As slated to carry a number of segment-first features, the upcoming Civic sedan will be sold in three grades, namely V, VX and ZX. The top-spec trim, on the interior front, is likely to bring on various premium features such as dual-zone temperature control, power sunroof, 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, 7-inch driver information display, 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat to name a few. The safety kits on the range-topping model encompass first-in-class Honda Lane Watch blind spot monitoring system, 6 dual-airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, Hill-hold assist, segment-first agile Handling Assist, segment-first electric parking brake, stability control and more.

Concerning the performance, the 2019 Honda Civic will come along with two engine options in its heart- 1.8-litre i-VTEC gasoline and 1.6-litre i-DTEC turbo-diesel burner which all conform to the new BSVI emission standard. The petrol engine comes mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that put out 141 PS of power at 6,500 rpm and 174 Nm at 4,300 rpm. Whereas, the first-ever i-DTEC burner coming from Honda Earth Dreams Technology series will pair with a 6-speed manual transmission and generate the power-torque figures of 120 PS at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm at 2,000 rpm units. Excellent driving performance thereby is offered on the tenth-gen Civic boasting an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 16,5 kmpl for petrol variant and the segment-leading mileage of 26.9 kmpl returned by the diesel burner.

The 2019 Honda Civic (facelift) is expected to go on sale at around Rs 18-24 Lakh (ex-showroom, India) and compete against other C-segment sedans like the Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla Altis in India.
