An all-new 1.5 diesel engine will be available in the Maruti Ciaz very soon. It is more powerful than 1.3 version yet offers higher mileage and torque than Honda City

Maruti Ciaz received its mid-cycle makeover in August 2018. Shortly after this, in January, Maruti has confirmed that they will finally release the all-new 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine on the Ciaz in the coming weeks. The new oil burner develops 95 PS and 225 Nm, while the existing diesel engine generates 92 PS and 200 Nm. However, unlike the current oil burner option, the new model won't get the mild hybrid system. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, which will be a first for the Maruti Cia. The same powertrain option will be available on the new Ertiga in the next three months. This powertrain is claimed to return the high mileage of 26.82kmpl.

Apart from the more spurge on tap, the new engine is also promised to create a more comfortable driving experience with a reduced NVH level. Also, after getting rid of the dual mass flywheel, the transmission system will perform with not the slightest struggle.

This engine will not be available on the baseline Sigma. And the old engine will continue to power this version. As it has been received the facelift months ago, there is no cosmetic change to arrive.

With this addition of power option, the Maruti Ciaz will increase its appeal even more. This update is part of the needed changes toward a greener and BSVI compliant line-up.
