2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Exceeds The 16,000-Booking Mark

The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R can be purchased through Maruti’s Arena range of dealerships. As revealed by official Maruti Suzuki figures, the Wagon R has surpassed the 16,000-booking mark, which shows that the tall-boy hatchback has received excellent response from the Indian auto buyers. Maruti Suzuki has also extended the waiting period to several weeks, which can vary depending on the variants.

The new 2019 Wagon R now looks more modern and has greater dimensions than the outgoing model. In the front, it comes with square headlamps which are split into two parts and a piece of chrome decoration inserted on the rectangular wide grille. On the side profile, you can realize some prominent features like turn indicators integrated with the ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars and a blacked-out area on the C-pillar to enhance the effect of the floating roof. The rear comes with tall taillights which look like those on the last-gen Ertiga.

Entering the cabin, you can realize that the new Wagon R’s cabin has been thoroughly updated with a wide range of top-notch features including

• Brand-new 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment unit

• 60:40 split folding rear seat row

Under the hood of the new Wagon R are a 1.0L and 1.2L petrol motor options. While the former is borrowed from the outgoing model with a maximum power of 68 hp against a peak torque of 90 Nm, the latter is shared with the Ignis and the Swift with the maximum power/torque figures being 83 hp and 113 Nm. The two engines fuel efficiency figures are 22.6 kpl and 21.5 kpl, respectively. The transmission duties on both the two motors are undertaken by a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT unit.

For the new Maruti Wagon R variants with the 1.0L motor, the price ranges from INR 4.19 lakh to INR 5.16 lakh. On the other hand, the variants powered by the 1.2L unit is priced from INR 4.89 lakh to INR 5.69 lakh. In the Indian auto market, it directly competes against the Hyundai Santro and, Tata Tiago and the Datsun Go.
