2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR LXi Variant First Images Revealed

Not long before, Maruti Suzuki officially announced that the pre-bookings of the forthcoming WagonR have already begun across Arena dealerships in India. It is projected to be launched in India on January 23 and can be pre-booked for Rs 11,000. Customers can also pre-order this upcoming tall-boy hatchback online.

The 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR will be underpinned by the fifth-gen Heartect platform with greater dimensions. To be more specific, it will be 19 mm, 125 mm, 35 mm greater in length, respectively with a 35 mm-longer wheelbase.

Moreover, the India-bound third-gen WagonR will adopt a temporary exterior design approach, which will make it more modern than ever before. It will get some new features such as an outstanding grille, polishing headlamps and fog lamp housing in the front, a floating roof on the side profile and a larger vertically positioned taillights to make it look like a crossover. The images showcased below are of the base 1.0L LXi variant, which rides on 13-inch wheels. The new WagonR interior features will include the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system and an impressive safety kit consisting of airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder and speed alert system.

Maruti Suzuki also intends to boost the sales by introducing a new motor to the WagonR to offer more buying options to the Indian auto buyers: the 1.2L K Series petrol motor, which is borrowed from the Baleno and the Swift. This engine is only offered on the VXi and ZXi variant and is mated to a 5-speed MT or an AMT gearbox. The old 1.0L K10B petrol motor will be maintained and available only on the LXi, VXi and VXi AGS variants. This engine can produce a maximum power of 68 PS and a peak torque of 90 Nm.

The new WagonR will come with a brand-new 1.2L petrol engine

The current WagonR model is priced in the range from Rs 4.15 lakh for the base variant and Rs 5.39 lakh for the top variant (ex-showroom Delhi). The new-gen model is expected to be priced almost the same, but the prices of the variants powered by the bigger engines will be slightly higher. Once launched in India, it will compete against the Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago and Datsun Go.
