The facelifted Renault Duster will follow the forthcoming stringent pedestrian safety norms and BSVI emission standards. The launch is expected to take place in late 2019 or early 2020.

Back in 2012, the first generation of Renault Duster entered the Indian auto market and basically, it is the same car that is currently on sale today. Before the introduction of the Renault Kwid, the Renault Duster did contribute mainly to the company’s overall sales volume in the country. However, over the years, the Duster’s footprint in the domestic space has faded gradually due to the launch of new models in the segment, especially the Hyundai Creta. To get back to the competition, Renault is gearing up for the launch of a heavy makeover of the Duster, which has been spotted on test on many occasions.

Renault India is preparing for the launch of the facelifted Duster in India in late this year or early next year.

Now, for the very first time, the 2019 Renault Duster (facelift) has been spied completely undisguised in India, which gives us a clearer look at the upcoming model. The SUV was spotted quite clearly in a new shade of blue, likely during its TVC shoot at the Zoji La Pass near Srinagar-Leh highway, which is, in fact, one of the most dangerous mountains passes all around the world.

The Renault Duster facelift has been spotted without any concealment recently, showing it's almost ready to enter the competition.

According to the spy shots, the updated Renault Duster sports a handful of cosmetic changes and features updates over the outgoing version, all the ways to make it ready for the new norms. The front end of the car features a redesigned hood up front along with a new bumper design while the headlamp cluster sees the integration of new LED daytime running lights. The side profile of the facelifted Duster has been done up with some styling bits such as newly-designed alloy wheels, aluminium-finished side body claddings as well as a pair of big and prominent roof rails. In the meantime, the rear end of the SUV also receives a tweaked bumper, refreshed black boot door garnish with “Duster” lettering.

The new Duster will be upgraded to meet the BSVI emission norms as well as the pedestrian safety standards in India.

On the inside, we can expect a new design theme with an enhanced quality of the materials inside the cabin of the vehicle. The new Duster is likely to share some interior fitments with the Captur sibling in order to lift the mood on the inside. In all likelihood, the Duster facelift might be offered with leather-wrapped seats, premium dashboard design and updated infotainment system among others. To make it conform to the new safety norms, the upcoming Renault Duster should get a suite of essential features like dual airbags, passenger seat belt reminder, speed alert, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, etc.

The 2019 Renault Duster (facelift) is expected to get the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine as seen in the earlier model but they will be upgraded to meet the BSVI emission norms while the smaller 85 HP diesel motor will be phased out from the model range. Transmission package includes a 6-speed MT and AMT for diesel variant along with a 5-speed MT and CVT for petrol configuration.
