2019 Skoda Superb Ready To Be Launched - New Teaser Shows Off New Design

The Skoda Superb is the company’s flagship vehicle for its entire line-up in the Indian market. The third-gen Superb facelift is getting closer to the launch date which is will take place later this month. Ahead of D-day, Skoda has teased enthusiasts with a fresh sketch of the new Superb, previewing the look and crucial design cues of the facelifted model.

The sketch sheds light especially on the new design of the front fascia. The mid-life update includes some subtle changes which are unfortunately, not substantial enough to be called a true updated. It will carry forward the Skoda’s signature grille design and gets re-worked headlight clusters and bumper. The headlight, while of similar design as the outgoing version, will now get full LED lights in place of the bi-xenon units with LED DRLs in the version it replaces. At the moment, there are no images of the rear side available. However, it is likely that Skoda will replace the Skoda moniker with its name lettered on the boot lid.

Skoda Superb 2019 Facelift only gets some minor changes on the front face

The most noticeable change on the Superb is the addition of the plug-in hybrid technology. It is expected that the Superb will come with a 1.4 TSI petrol-electric powertrain which it inherits from the Volkswagen Passat GTE. In the Passat, the plug-in hybrid powertrain is capable of making 218hp but only has a 50km range when running on pure-electric mode.

In the cabin, the new Skoda Superb will get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity as standard across the range. It also gets a new infotainment system with higher connectivity equipment will be featured on the Superb. Also, the Czech manufacturer promises to place greater emphasis in the practicality of the interior design. But how exactly that gets implemented into reality still remains to be seen.

Skoda Superb facelift will be revealed this month in Bratislava

The Skoda Superb will be revealed during the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Bratislava later this month. For the Indian market, Skoda plans to launch the new Skoda Superb at a later but not too-far-off stage. For now, Skoda is gearing up for the launch of the India-spec Skoda Kamiq and new Skoda Scala.
