2020 Datsun Redi-GO BS6 could launch soon with a host of styling updates and a BSVI-compliant engine.

The ongoing Datsun Redi-GO is getting retailed into the Indian market since 2016. The competition in the entry-level hatchback segment is increasing rapidly as the new entrants are entering the market, so the carmaker is now planning to introduce the mid-life facelift version of the car. Recently, a fully camouflaged test mule of the upcoming hatchback has been snapped while getting tested. The car was covered with camouflage from head to toe, but it still reveals some information regarding the design of the new entry-level car.

The new Datsun Redi-GO will take on the hot-selling S-Presso

In order to make the Redi-GO facelift comply with the upcoming pedestrian protection norms, the facelift model with feature a newly designed bumper up front. As compared to the ongoing model, the updated car also looks a bit longer. Moreover, one can expect the cabin of the entry-level hatchback to be offered with better quality materials. A few months back, the ongoing Datsun Redi-GO scored one-star rating for adult occupant protection and two-star rating for the child occupant safety at the Global NCAP crash test. The updated model will come fitted with some better safety equipment to make the all-new entry-level hatchback safer than before.

The ongoing Datsun Redi-GO derives power from two BS-IV compliant powertrain options, which consists of an 800 cc motor that produces power and torque outputs of 54 PS and 91 Nm. The car also gets propelled by a more powerful 1.0-litre engine, which churns out 68 PS of power and 91 Nm of twisting force. The transmission duties are done by a 5-speed MT and an AMT gearbox. The newly launched Maruti S-Presso and Kwid facelift have made it tougher for the Redi-GO to survive in the market. The Datsun Redi-GO offer class-leading ground clearance of 185 mm. The ongoing Redi-GO is being retailed between a price bracket of Rs 2.82 lakh and Rs 4.4 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
