The all-new Ford Puma compact SUV will get various powertrain options under the bonnet, including a 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine along with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

While the new modern entrants from a variety of carmakers have heated up the crossovers and SUV segments for quite some time now, Ford is going to add more heats with the arrival of the Puma targeting to drive the sales across the globe. The Ford Puma is not a new nameplate in the ‘Blue Oval’ family though. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Ford introduced the Puma as a quirky-looking sporty coupe in some international markets. However, the reborn Puma takes the shape of a crossover and will be positioned above the Ecosport in the company’s product range.

Ford Puma- Offical Teaser Video

A few days ago, Ford teased the new Puma in a video prior to its global unveiling set to happen today (June 26, 2019). It remains to confirm if the American carmaker could bring the Puma to cross the Indian boundaries or not. However, given Ford’s plan to introduce three new SUVs in the Indian market soon, it’s likely that the Puma could be one.

As seen in the teaser video, the new Puma bears a striking similarity in terms of shape and size as compared to that of the Ecosport. In facts, the vehicle derives a lot of design elements from the latest Fiesta supermini and carries an evocative cosmetic beauty with a compact size, short overhangs, sleek headlamps with LED daytime running lights, trapezoidal grille, raked windshield and many more. It will be quite attractive to the family buyers by a high riding stance together with some practicality and convenience-focused technologies. The interior of the Ford Puma will be inspired partially by that of Fiesta as well.

Excitingly, powering the Ford Puma will be the award-winning 1.0-litre 3-cylinder EcoBoost petrol engine along with an option of a 48-volt mild-hybrid system for the top-spec models. That being said, the performance-spec ST variant, which has been spotted testing in some developed markets several times, is on the menu too.

The new model will be mass produced at the company’s Craiova facility based out in Romania. Stay tuned and update with more details about the Puma at its global showcase today.
