The 2020 Honda City hatchback has recently been spied before its launch in Thailand and then other ASEAN markets.

The first spy image of the fifth-gen Honda City-based hatchback was released on the Internet earlier this month and recently, it has been spied again in Thailand. The hatchback is expected to be launched in the foreseeable future and it will compete against the Toyota Yaris and Nissan Note in the Southeast Asian markets.

The Japanese auto manufacturer is expecting to expand the Honda City hatchback to other markets since it is now only available in China. Because the Brio and Jazz will soon turn outdated in many markets, the new City is likely to record decent success. The new Honda City pre-bookings have started in India ahead of its launch by mid-2021.

The test mule with camouflage suggests that a production-ready model will come with a sharp design for the front and some alterations to the rear. From the front to the C-pillar, the City will bear a strong resemblance to its donor vehicle with a bold shoulder line stretching from the front bumper to the wraparound horizontal LED taillights. The newest test mule runs on multi-spoke black rims. The boot structure and the rear seat folding mechanism will be improved in order to provide more practicality for the passengers. Whereas the interior of the car has yet to be spied, the City hatchback is expected to maintain the same instrument cluster, centre console, dashboard with the touchscreen infotainment system, etc.

Because of the lower kerb weight, the Honda City hatchback will possibly handle around the city traffic more easily and smoothly. The vehicle is likely to be powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder VTEC turbo gasoline burner which also serves as the power source for the RS variant of the City sedan and can generate about 122 HP.
