2020 Honda City is expected to launch in March this year. It will be Honda's most significant model and will rival Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz in India.

Car manufacturers in India had showcased a lot of different cars at Auto Expo 2020, including a lot of upcoming ones as well. Sadly, Honda was absent from the biennial event, leaving us clueless as to what the Japanese carmaker is up to these days. We, however, have one confirmation, that the 2020 Honda City (next-generation) is about to be launched in India very soon.

2020 Honda City India launch expected soon

Honda City is one of the most popular name badges in India. The outgoing-model was launched in 2014. Even though it received a minor facelift in 2017, the City sedan now feels a bit too long in the tooth. The upcoming new-generation not only has significant changes in terms of tech and powertrain, but also the design. The most noticeable change is the front fascia, which now features a large chrome bar covering a majority of the front-grille, just like on the Honda Civic and Amaze. The newer model will also be larger than the outgoing one.

Engine options on the City will also change with the change in generation. The car will get a turbocharged 1.0-litre engine with 122 PS and 173 Nm on tap. It will probably come paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This, however, might only be available on the top variant. Other engine options will include the BS6-compliant versions of the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines used on the current model. There would be a 5-speed manual on offer as standard and a CVT available as an option.

There is no confirmation on the price yet, but there are a lot of rumours floating around. The price is expected to range between Rs. 12 - 15 lakh. The 2020 Honda City will compete against Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, and Maruti Ciaz.
