2020 Hyundai Creta Bags 40,000 Bookings

The 2020 Hyundai Creta has registered 40,000 bookings. The all-new SUV has become the best-selling car in its segment.

Korean automaker Hyundai recently announced that the new-gen Creta has gathered around 40,000 bookings till now. The compact SUV was launched in the Indian market a few months back. In spite of the current market situation, the all-new Hyundai SUV managed to get impressive booking and sales figures. Last month, Hyundai sold a total of 7,114 units of Creta in our market and again become the hot-selling SUV in its segment like the previous-gen model. Moreover, the automaker has also said that the diesel trim accounts 67 per cent of total bookings and the petrol and turbocharged variants have a contribution of 33 per cent and 21 per cent. The 2020 Hyundai Creta is offered in five different trim levels namely- E, EX, S, SX and SX(O).

Mechanically, it derives power from three engine options- a 1.5-litre petrol mill, which puts out 113bhp of power, paired with an iVT automatic gearbox, a 1.4-litre GDI turbocharged petrol engine that produces 138bhp and comes coupled to a 7-speed DCT and a 1.5-litre oil burner, which develops a power output of 113bhp and comes mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. A 6-speed MT is offered as standard across the line-up. The carmaker is also working on the 7-seater version of the SUV that has been recently spotted while getting tested. Hyundai has also filed a trademark application for the name ‘Alcazar’. Reports suggest that it could be the production name of the 3-row Creta.

The all-new Hyundai SUV is expected to launch by the first half of next year and will rub shoulders with the likes of upcoming Tata Gravitas. The carmaker has also planned to launch the new-gen i20 in India by the end of 2020. The upcoming premium hatchback will receive extensive cosmetic and feature upgrades along with an addition of new powertrain options. The all-new Hyundai i20 will be powered by 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol, a 1.2-litre NA petrol and 1.5-litre diesel motor. Transmission duties will be done by a 5-speed MT, 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and a 7-speed DCT.
