2020 Jeep Compass Facelift Teased Prior to Its Debut on June 4

The 2020 Jeep Compass facelift will receive updates both in terms of the exterior and interior along with a new 1.3 Firefly turbo-petrol motor. Recently, the SUV has been teased ahead of its global debut next month.

The facelifted Jeep Compass, which is expected to be a big launch of the American auto manufacturer in the Indian auto market, is going to be debuted in the domestic market by the end of this year. Before its local debut, the facelifted model will be digitally debuted in the international market on June 4 and now it has been teased online.  The upcoming Jeep Compass will be a very important launch for Jeep as it is the only popular model of the auto company in the country.

The teaser shows that the front multi-slated grille has been redesigned with honeycomb mesh. The teaser also comes with a “Connected With Freedom” tag, which indicates that it will be equipped with an upgraded touchscreen infotainment system, likely to be the newest version of Uconnect 5. In comparison with the previous model, the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen is anticipated to be offered with more modern connective technologies.

One of the most outstanding new interior features of the 2020 Jeep Compass is the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The top-spec variants of the new Compass are likely to feature redesigned headlights, a new set of wheels, bumpers and revised taillights. The interior will be replete with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless charging, an upgraded centre console, dashboard and a wide range of driver-assistance and safety features.

The facelifted Jeep Compass will receive its power from a new 1.3-litre four-cyl FireFly turbo motor in some markets like Brazil which will serve as a substitute for the 1.4-litre MultiAIr2 turbo unit. The motor will be available in two states of tunes: 150 PS/270 Nm and 180 PS/270 Nm with a 6-speed dual dry clutch gearbox and a 9-speed automatic gearbox, respectively.

Noteworthily, the American automaker showcased the Compass Plug-in hybrid which is powered by an electric motor which combines with an electric motor at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The India-bound facelifted Compass will continue to keep under its hood with either a 1.4-litre turbo gasoline burner (162 PS/250 Nm) or a 2.0-litre oil unit (170 PS/350 Nm), both of which have been made BSVI-compliant. In addition to the standard 6-speed MT, the petrol variants will come with a 6-speed DCT while the diesel trims will be available with a 9-speed AT. The existing Jeep Compass is currently priced from INR 16.49 lakh to INR 27.60 lakh (ex-showroom); the facelifted model's price is expected to be slightly increased for the updated features.
