Kia Rio Facelift Revealed, Gets A Handful of Updates

Kia Motors has unveiled the 2020 Rio ahead of its official launch. The new model will feature comprehensive styling updates outside and inside.

Kia has finally revealed the 2020 Rio facelift ahead of its official launch, which is scheduled to happen in the coming weeks. The new facelift model has received extensive changes outside and inside. The major update is the addition of a 1.0-litre T-GDI ‘Smartstream’ gasoline mild-hybrid engine. The new hybrid unit replaces the old 1.0-litre T-GDI Kappa engine.

The new motor consists of a 3-pot internal combustion engine with an integrated starter-generator that decreases the emission level by 8% as per WTPL standards. The mild-hybrid engine is tuned to produce two different power outputs- 100bhp and 120bhp. The new power plant will come paired with a newly-developed manual transmission.

The new Kia Rio now gets a a 1.0-litre T-GDI ‘Smartstream’ gasoline mild-hybrid engine

Moreover, the new Kia Rio will also be offered with naturally-aspirated 1.2-litre and 1.0-litre gasoline engine options. The 1.2-litre mill will be only offered with the entry-level trims. Transmission duties will be done by 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DCT. Furthermore, the updated hatchback will offer three different driving models, namely- Eco, Sport and Normal. The cabin of the 2020 Kia Rio now gets a bigger 20.3 cm touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. There is also a 10cm high-resolution digital display for the driver. The 2020 model features the latest connected telematics system, which includes an advanced voice control system, Live traffic information and local fuel prices.

The driver’s seat height adjuster is now offered as a standard fitment, while the passenger side height adjuster is optional. The 2020 Rio gets a new Blue cabin colour pack. Outside, the new Rio facelift employs a sleeker front grille, LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, new sporty-looking alloy wheels, wide bumper and new fog lamps surround. The updated hatchback will be offered in 9 distinctive colour shade options, which consist of two new colours namely- Sporty Blue and Perennial Grey.
