New Land Rover Defender | Arriving in India on 15th October
The new-gen Land Rover Defender first came to the limelight at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September last year. Earlier this year, the British car brand has opened bookings for this new model in India. The prices of the new Land Rover Defender were also revealed. Back then, the new Land Rover Defender was scheduled for launch in June. However, due to the current health crisis, the launch of this new model was delayed.
On the international market, the Land Rover Defender is available with both diesel and petrol engine. In addition, the British car brand also offers a plug-in hybrid version. However, when arriving at the Indian market, this model is expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine only. This petrol engine is good for 292 BHP and 400 Nm. It is expected that this engine will come with automatic transmission. The new-gen Land Rover Defender will be available in two configurations, a 3-door version Defender 90 and a 5-door version Defender 110.
On the inside, the Land Rover Defender will be loaded to the brims with a wide range of features. It will be available with a large 10-inch infotainment touchscreen with Pivi Pro system, along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Connected Navigation Pro, Smartphone Pack, a head-up display, chilled compartment at the centre console unit among other highlight features.
Land Rover Defender will come with various driving assist and comfort features
On top of that, the focus of the Land Rover Defender is still its off-road capabilities. For the new version, Jaguar will load the Defender with various performance-assisted features. The new Land Rover Defender will come with a Terrain Response 2 system. This system is designed to optimize the traction of the car and adjust the height, allowing the SUV to handle different terrains. Also, the power air suspension can lower the ground clearance by 50mm, making the ingress and egress easier. Moreover, the new Defender gets other features like 360-degree parking camera and Wade sensing function.
It is note-worthy that the new Land Rover Defender is based on the all-new D7X platform. It also makes use of a lightweight aluminium monocoque chassis which is claimed to be the most rigid unit ever produced by the British carmaker. The new Land Rover Defender will come with five variants, Base, S, SE, HSE and First Edition.
The next-gen Defender will be brought to Indian shore via the CKD route (Completely Knocked Down). According to the price list revealed earlier, the Land Rover Defender will be available from Rs 70 lakh to Rs 87 lakh.
