For the India-spec model, there are two engine options available: a 2.0-litre inline-4 turbo-petrol (P250) and a 2.0-litre inline-4 turbo-diesel (D180). The former generates 248 PS of peak power and a peak torque of 365 Nm. The latter is good for maximum power and torque figures of 180 PS and 430 Nm. There is only one transmission on offer here, a 7-speed torque-converter automatic. All-wheel-drive comes as standard, as is expected from a rugged Land Rover vehicle.
The Taillamps and tailgate have also been redesigned
In the interest of safety, the new Land Rover Discovery Sport offers ABS, ESC, EBD, emergency braking, six airbags, roll stability control, and front and rear parking sensors with a reverse parking camera. The SUV is offered in a three-row configuration, and is the only SUV in its segment to do so. There are two trims on offer – ‘S’ and ‘R-Dynamic SE’. Prices have only been announced for the diesel trims, and deliveries will commence soon. The petrol trims are slated to arrive later. The price for the diesel ‘S’ trim is Rs. 57.06 lakh and for diesel ‘R-Dynamic SE’ is Rs. 60.89 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, pan-India). The Discovery Sport competes with Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, and Volvo XC60.
