2020 Mahindra Thar Premium Interiors Leaked Ahead Of Debut

After more than 10 years of presence, the iconic off-road focused Mahindra Thar will revise itself with a complete new-gen model set to enter the market next year. The all-new Thar is projected to have its official debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo while the commercial launch is expected to commence a bit later in April of the same year.

Mahindra will launch the next-generation Thar in April 2020, along with other new-gen models including Scorpio and XUV500.

Mahindra has already started testing its new-gen Thar on the roads preparing for the launch. Recently, the all-new Mahindra Thar has been spotted with soft top ahead of the debut. And now, yes, the new-gen SUV has been spied testing again, likely during its emission tests. While we have already got a brief idea of how it could look like on the outside, these latest spy images tell a lot more about the SUV’s premium interiors. Images reveal that the all-new Mahindra Thar should receive massive updates on the interiors compared to that of its predecessors. Though the current DNA of the car can still be felt here, the dashboard design has been largely revised for a more sophisticated look.

That said, the upcoming SUV will feature a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for the top variants. The new steering wheel might be intensely inspired by that of the TUV300 sibling while the centre console will offer a spot for installing a music system at the top. Thankfully, according to a set of spy pics, the 2020 Mahindra Thar will get an all-black interior theme in place of the dual-tone black-beige cabin as seen in the preceding version. Other interior highlights should include a large multi-information display, power windows with controls mounted on the central tunnel and behind the gear knob, new seat upholstery, front facing rear seat and many more.

Images suggest that the all-new Thar will get a more luxurious and premium cabin compared to that of the outgoing version.

As far as the mechanical bits go, the 2020 Mahindra Thar will get a new 2.0-litre diesel engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This engine will churn out a maximum power output of 140 BHP for the new Thar and will comply with new stringent BSVI emission norms. Also, the new-gen SUV will carry on using a four-wheel-drive system replete with low-range gearbox, just like the current-gen vehicle. Given the features updates and BSVI engine, the next-gen 2020 Mahindra Thar should be certainly positioned higher than the Rs 9.49 Lakh mark of the current model (ex-showroom, India).
