2020 Mahindra Thar Price List Leaked, Seems Affordable

Prices of new-gen Mahindra Thar have been leaked prior to its launch on October 2. It starts at Rs. 9.75 lakh for the base-spec trim.

In the new-gen avatar, Mahindra Thar is gaining all the limelight that a beautifully-designed car should. Slated to launch on October 2, new-gen Mahindra Thar was unveiled on Independence Day this year. With the unveiling, Mahindra revealed almost everything about the Thar, including the trim options. However, prices were kept under a wrap. Officially, they are to be announced on October 2.  But, recently an image has surfaced over the internet that shows the prices of the new-gen Thar. This leaked image seems like a dealer’s price list. Whatever the case is, it reveals that Mahindra will be pricing the Thar quite aggressively. Going by the list, prices for 2020 Mahindra Thar start at Rs. 9.75 lakh for the AX petrol MT trim with a fixed soft top.

The next trim in the hierarchy is the AX diesel MT with a fixed soft top, which is priced at Rs. 10.49 lakh. AX Optional Petrol MT with a convertible Soft Top, however, is priced at Rs. 10.25 lakh, while its diesel counterpart is priced at Rs. 10.99 lakh. Moving over to the feature-loaded LX trims, diesel manual variant is priced at 11.20 lakh, but with the automatic gearbox in place, the sticker price increases to Rs. 12.25 lakh. The petrol automatic LX trim carries an ex-showroom price of Rs. 12.49 lakh. The leaked document also reveals that delivery of the new-gen Thar will begin by the second week of October.

Talking of the powertrain, new-gen Thar will offer 2 engine options – 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel. The 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline direct-injection setup will push out a rated power and torque output of 150 PS and 320 Nm. The oil burner, on the other hand, is good to belt out 130 PS of peak power and 300 Nm of peak torque. The transmission options will include a 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT. Also, the new-gen Thar will come with a 4X4 layout with a low-range transfer case as standard fitment across the range. Additionally, all the trims of new-gen Thar will come fitted with a mechanically locking rear differential, while the LX trims will get brake-locking front axle as well.
