The new-gen Mahindra Thar has been spotted with the hard top on the roads ahead of the 2020 Auto Expo.

Allegedly, the second-generation Mahindra Thar will get an updated ladder-frame chassis dubbed M&M’s Gen3 as similar to the new-gen Scorpio or TUV300. As per the set of spy shots, the new Thar will feature a proportionate silhouette along with an evolutionary design language. Having said that, the family-oriented five-door SUV appears to be longer and wider as compared to the previous generation. It will come with outstanding wheel arches, fresh body panels, new front and rear bumpers and much more. Aside from that, the upcoming car is slated to be available with two different options of roofs, namely soft top and hard top versions. Whereas the door handles will be placed lower for more practical usage.

Interior wise, the 2020 Mahindra Thar will offer a comfort-focused cabin setup. A larger touchscreen infotainment system together with a 2-DIN music system, new instrument panel with a MID should make their ways on the dashboard too. Unlike the preceding versions, the all-new Thar will meet the stringent crash test norms thanks to the infusion of a driver airbag, high-speed alert and rear parking sensors, to say the least. Lying under the hood will be a newly-developed BSVI-compliant 2.0-litre burner which is capable of producing the maximum power output of 140 HP. After its launch, the next-gen Thar will see the stiff rivalry from the all-new Force Gurkha which is set to be unveiled during the same event.
