The 2020 Maruti Celerio is in the offing to step into the showroom’s pavilion within years to come. Maruti Suzuki is in a hectic phase gearing up for the launch of the Celerio in order to meet the upcoming BSVI emission standards as well as the new BNVSAP in the country. 2020 Maruti Celerio is in the process to bring the car buyers a completely new look and experience.

Back in 2014, the first Celerio model set its first introduction at the 2014 Auto Expo. In 2017, the mid-cycle update along with a separate X range was officially rolled out from Maruti's assembly line. The Celerio succeeded in garnering recognition from the masses with a stunning visual appeal along with heavy mechanical bits. In 2018, the Celerio hatchback recorded over one lakh units sold in India, no matter how aggressive the competition was, then, especially with the redoubtable 2018 Hyundai Santo as well as the fast-selling Tata Tiago and Renault Kwid. In specifics, the Korean-branded Santro has entered India for around 6 months merely, but really caused headaches for the older-running models like the Celerio throughout the year. However, Maruti Suzuki is coming to prove its ruling position in the Indian car space with a new generation of Celerio is around the corner in H2, 2020.

Once launched, it will lock horns with the likes of 2018 Hyundai Santro which is currently receiving phenomenal responses in India.

Just like the recently-launched appreciated Maruti Swift, the forthcoming Celerio should wrap off a first-ever 1.2-litre K series petrol engine under the hood which, says, will be a BSVI ready. The engine, as similar as the 2019 Maruti WagonR, with both manual and AMT transmission choices, may put out 83 horsepower and 113 Nm of max torque. The outgoing 1.0-litre K-series engine good enough for 67 hp of max power and 90 Nm of torque will be retained in the low and mid-spec trims as that of the new-gen WagonR sibling. It will carry on engaging with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT transmission unit. Whereas, the CNG version (compressed natural gas) is capable of producing the power output of 59 hp and 78 Nm torque at a claimed fuel mileage of 31.79 kmpl.

The all-new Celerio will be both a BSVI-compliant and BNVSAP-ready hatchback.

Moving on the cabin, the all-new Maruti Celerio will witness a plethora of premium interior updates including the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system alongside a bunch of standard safety features. Publications suggest that the next-gen Maruti Celerio will be built on the latest advanced Heartect Platform which covers largely the company’s product lineup. As a result, we’re going to see a larger and proportional Celerio hatchback out and about the roads in the coming years.
