2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS Launched At Rs 99.90 lakh

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new-gen GLS in two different trim levels. The all-new SUV is powered by a petrol and diesel engine.

Mercedes-Benz has finally launched the new 2020 GLS in the Indian market at Rs 99.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new SUV is being offered in two different trim levels namely- 400d diesel and 450 petrol. The third-gen Mercedes-Benz GLS was first revealed back in 2019 at the New York Auto Show. The SUV is based on the company’s modular high architecture (MHA) that also underpins the new GLE. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz is bigger than its predecessor. In terms of dimensions, the 2020 GLS is 5,207 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, 1,823 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,135 mm. This means that the new model is 77 mm longer, 22 mm wider and the wheelbase has been increased by 60 mm.

The new-gen GLS is priced at Rs 99.90 lakh

Due to increase in dimensions, the cabin of the car gets much more spacious and airy. It’s for the very first time that the SUV is being offered in 6-seat configuration with two luxury captain seats for the second row. The new 2020 model employs some high-end features. Inside, it gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument console and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The all-new GLS also features the new MUBX system with voice command and gesture control. The SUV also features rear-seat entertainment along with two 11.6-inch displays for entertainment, driver assistance system, heated seats and 5-zone climate control. The new-gen Mercedes-Benz GLS rides of 21-inch alloy wheels. Moreover, the second and third-row seats can be folded via using a button in the boot, which expands the boot space to 2,400-litres.

In total, the SUV offers 11 USB ports. In terms of safety features, the third-gen Mercedes-Benz GLS features 9 airbags, 360-degree camera, off-road ABS, brake assist, blind-spot assist, hill descent control and so on. Mechanically, the GLS 400d is powered by a 3.0-litre six-pot diesel engine, which puts out power and torque outputs of 330bhp and 700Nm. On the other hand, the 3.0-litre gasoline engine churns out 367bhp of power and 500 Nm of twisting force. Transmission duties are done by 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
