The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 is being developed and will be launched in the Indian auto market in 2021. Before this, the new SUV has been rendered by SRK Design.

Mahindra is known to be developing a wide range of new models including a new-gen Mahindra XUV500. The vehicle has been spied testing on many occasions and multiple reports about its launch have been released. Prior to its launch, which is expected to occur next year, a rendering of this new SUV by SRK Design has been released on the Internet. The illustration visualizes the new SUV with a design package which is harmonious with the home-grown automaker’s latest design philosophy.

According to the video, the current model has been utilized as the base for this illustration but at the end of the video, the rendered SUV bears a remarkable difference from existing one with the former looking more modern and fresher. The video starts by showing the upper grille which has been blackened out and the current model’s headlights which have been inspired by the XUV300. Given the fact that the sub-four-metre compact SUV is the newest SUV from the domestic automaker and comes with a fresher version of the company’s signature design philosophy, this is no surpise.

Internally codenamed ‘Mahindra W601’, the new-gen Mahindra XUV500 is claimed to be based on a brand-new monocoque platform which will even serve as the chassis for an upcoming SUV from Ford. However, the two new models from Ford and Mahindra will have some striking differences. The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 is expected to be offered with a 2.0-litre mStallion T-GDi turbo 4-cyl gasoline burner which can generate 190 HP against 380 Nm. The new Mahindra XUV500 will come to the dealerships by mid-2021 while the Ford SUV will go on sale by 2022.
