Maruti Swift is due to receive its new facelift in the next few days. Ahead of the launch, Maruti has released the new teaser video for the midlife facelift Swift.

Maruti Swift is about to receive its mid-life facelift. The much-anticipated facelift is expected to hit the Indian market in the following days. In the international market, the facelift Suzuki Swift has been on sale since last year. For our market, the last time the Maruti Swift received a major update was in 2017 when the third-gen model entered the market. Ahead of the launch, Maruti has released a teaser video for the upcoming Maruti Swift facelift.

The video teaser only shows a brief glimpse of the facelift Swift. That being said, it is likely that the India-spec facelifted Swift will reflect the updates on the existing version on sale abroad. It means that Swift will get various comprehensive updates. For example, on the front, the 2021 Maruti Swift will get a redesigned headlights, a honeycomb mesh grille with a big chrome slat, and a revised bumper. Unlike the extensive makeover availed on the front, the side profile and rear-end design are unlikely to get any noticeable update.

As far as the interior is concerned, Maruti Suzuki is most likely to keep the same layout. However, our best guess is that the facelifted Swift might get some subtle updates that come in the form of silver inserts. In terms of the features, it will continue to offer a 7.0-inch SmartPlay infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch coloured MID. Other features include climate control, push-button start, hill-hold control and electronic stability control (for AMT variants).

Maruti Swift is likely to get a more powerful 1.2-litre petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system

Under the hood, Maruti Swift is expected to derive power from a 1.2-litre N.A Dual-jet petrol engine which is more powerful than the existing unit. This engine is capable of making 90 BHP against 82 BHP on the existing 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engine. It is likely to be offered with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. The same engine is powering the Baleno and Dzire.

Moreover, it is likely that Maruti will offer a new 48V mild-hybrid system with Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). This technology will help to boost the fuel efficiency of the Swift.

At launch, Maruti Swift is expected to get slightly more expensive. It is currently on sale from Rs 5.19 lakh to Rs 8.02 lakh (ex-showroom).
