2021 Skoda Kodiaq Facelift Unveiled Globally, India Launch Soon

The Czech automaker Skoda has finally revealed the new 2021 Kodiaq facelift globally. It is expected to go on sale in the European markets in July 2021 and will hit the Indian shores afterwards. As compared to the outgoing model, the 2021 version of the SUV features a lot of changes. It employs a lot of cosmetic and feature updates on the outside and on the inside. The exterior of the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq will get a hexagonal grille upfront, which looks more upright than before. The Skoda SUV also feature redesigned headlights and LED DRLs.

The rear end of the SUV gets a new set of crystalline taillights, which are sharper than before. On the side, the car employs a new design for the alloy wheels. The three different trims of Skoda Kodiaq namely - RS, L&K and Sportline came into the line at the revealing event. The RS variant of the SUV loses out on the twin-turbo diesel engine and gets a 2.0-litre TSI unit, which is capable of producing a maximum of 245 Bhp of power. The same powertrain does duties in the Octavia RS and is mated to a 7-speed DSG. The SUV is also 60 kilos lighter now to offer better handling characteristics. The Octavia RS develops 370 Nm of twisting force, and it will be quite exciting to see what the new Kodiaq RS will offer as the diesel unit puts out 500 Nm of peak torque. The India-spec Kodiaq facelift is expected to be offered with a 1.5-litre TSI petrol and a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine options.

The former will produce 150 Bhp of power, while the latter will churn out a power output of 190 Bhp. The 2.0-litre Evo TDI unit will also be on offer in two different states of tune- 150 Bhp and 200 Bhp. Transmission duties will be done by a 7-speed DSG along with an optional AWD system. As per Zac Hollis, Director of Sales, Service and Marketing at Skoda Auto India, the Skoda Kodiaq facelift will make its way to India. One can expect the facelifted Skoda Kodiaq to hit the Indian shores by the end of this year.
