Tata Safari is one of the most celebrated names around the Indian audience. When launched in the late 90s, the Safari received a warm response for offering the experience of a bigger SUV at a relatively lower price tag. With the new safety and emission regulations rolling out, Tata Motors had to pull the plug on the Safari's production. But, the brand has recently announced to resurrect the Safari moniker in the Indian market once again. While the carmaker has been sharing teaser images and videos of the 2021 Tata Safari for quite some time now, the SUV has been finally unveiled today. Moreover, the first unit has rolled off the production line from the brand’s Pune based manufacturing facility.

In terms of design, the 2021 Safari looks appealing and modern. It was showcased as Gravitas at the 2020 Auto Expo. Based on the OMEGA Arc platform which also underpins the Harrier, the Safari is basically a 7-seat version of the Harrier itself. It looks almost identical to the Harrie,r up to the B-pillar. After which, the roof tends to raise a little to elevate more headroom for the 3rd-row occupants. Interestingly, Tata Motors has pulled-off this stepped-roof design quite neatly. The roof rails also feature the stepped design and a chrome embellishment that has the name 'SAFARI' engraved in it.

From the front, it looks identical to the Harrier, but the new design for the grille acts as a differentiating element. In comparison to the Harrier, the Safari is longer and taller by 63 mm and 80 mm, respectively. The flagship offering of the Tata Motors will be available in two seating configurations – 6-seater and 7-seater. While the former will come with captain chairs in the second-row, the latter will get a bench seat.
