Here, we have a beautiful rendering of the upcoming Toyota Corolla Cross SUV, showcasing what the upcoming vehicle could potentially look like.

Recently, IndianAuto had reported that Toyota is working on a new crossover SUV based on the Corolla. The car was spotted earlier in Thailand during road testing. Dubbed Corolla Cross, the new vehicle will be a compact SUV that will be placed under the RAV4 in Toyota’s line-up. The anticipation for the vehicle is quite high, which has prompted digital artists to create renderings of the upcoming SUV. Here, we have one such image, created by Jonathan Machado.

The images showcased here give us an idea of what the upcoming Toyota Corolla Cross suv could look like. The design seems to be a ‘cross’ between Toyota Raize and RAV4. At the front, we have sharp, angular LED headlamps (reminiscent of the Raize) and a vertically split front grille. The grille is outlined by a rugged-looking plastic cladding, and there is also a faux skid plate under the front bumper. The foglamp housing also houses LED turn indicators, but the housing itself is quite uniquely sculpted.

As for the side profile, it is quite uneventful. You get large alloy wheels, and the wheel arches and doors have blacked-out plastic cladding. At the rear, we get a pair of taillights that have the same design those on the RAV4. The rear bumper is completely black instead of body-coloured, and there's a skid plate added for better aesthetics. Overall, we’d say this is quite an impressive design, and if the final product is as cool as this, Toyota might have a winner on its hands.

Not a lot has been confirmed about the upcoming Toyota Corolla Cross, but we know that it will be based on the modular TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform and will rival the Jeep Compass. It will be launched in the Brazilian market in 2021, followed by South-East Asia. As stated prior, the upcoming SUV will shares a lot of its components with the Toyota Corolla sedan, like the engine. We expect the car to be powered by a 2.0-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine, capable of generating 180 PS. A 1.8-litre petrol/electric hybrid powerplant might also be on offer.
