The local subsidiary of South Korean automaker Hyundai introduced the all-new Creta in the Indian market a few months ago. It was first showcased early this year, at the 2020 Auto Expo, and went on sale in mid-March. In its first month of launch, the automaker sold as many as 6,706 units of the second-gen Hyundai Creta, which contributed to roughly one-fourth of its overall sales in that period. Within the four months of its launch, the new Hyundai Creta has become the top-selling car in its segment by surpassing the sales of its direct rival Kia Seltos. In fact, the new SUV has accounted for around half the volumes of Hyundai in the months of May and June. The new five-seater Hyundai SUV was the top-selling car in the whole country in May this year. The rural market has contributed around 20 per cent of the total demand. Around 56 per cent of the Creta’s bookings come from diesel trims. On the other hand, 30 per cent is from automatic trims which consist an equal demand of 10 per cent for 1.5-litre petrol IVT, 1.5-litre diesel 6AT and 1.4-litre turbo petrol DCT variants.

The new Hyundai Creta derives power from a range of engines. To start with, there are 1.5-litre petrol and diesel options. The former puts out 113bhp of maximum power and 144Nm of peak torque, while the latter produces 113bhp and 250Nm of power and torque, respectively. The petrol mill comes paired with a 6-speed MT or a CVT, while the diesel unit comes coupled to a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The SUV is also offered with a punchy 1.4-litre turbo petrol mill, which belts out 138bhp of power and 242Nm of torque.
