Maruti Ertiga Sport is spotted for the first time, hinting at the future launch of this premium MPV in India.

The rumour about the 2019 Maruti Ertiga Sport has been flying around for a while now. However, not until recently did we see the new model for the first time. The spy images have unofficially confirmed the launch of the Ertiga Sport in India.

The upcoming Ertiga Sport will be based on the second-generation Ertiga, but it will come with some tasty styling additions and premium feature updates. From the spy images, the Ertiga Sport appears to be more rugged and sporty in style. Some soft parts will be replaced to bring out a fresh look. On the other hand, it will retain the body panel from the regular Ertiga.

The camouflaged Ertiga Sport seems to feature a larger grille and wider chrome application. Prominent air intakes, black alloy wheels, body plastic cladding and flared wheel arches ensures a butch and aggressive appearance. Besides, the ground clearance of the Ertiga Sport appears to be higher than that of the regular version.

The interior of the Ertiga Sport is well kept under the wrap. Our best guess is that the new version will come with an all-black interior. Besides, unlike the seven-seater Ertiga, the Ertiga Sport will have the bucket seat for the front and the second row. As a result, the Ertiga Sport would be a strict six-seater.

About the powertrain options, the Ertiga Sports will be available with a petrol engine only, unlike the regular Ertiga which is powered both by petrol and diesel unit. The six-seater Ertiga Sport will receive power from the BSVI-compliant 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine seen on the Ciaz facelift. The transmission could be either the 5-speed manual gearbox or the 4-speed automatic unit. It is possible that Maruti will feature the SHVS mild hybrid system on the Ertiga Sport. Just like the regular Ertiga, this premium six-seater MPV will be sold via the Nexa outlets.
