MG India has finally launched its second fossil-powered car - Hector Plus, in the Indian market today. The prices for the Hector Plus start at Rs. 13.48 lakh and tops out at Rs. 18.53 lakh. It first debuted on the Indian soil at the 2020 Auto Expo. While the Hector Plus has just been launched, it has started reaching the dealerships already. In comparison to the Hector, it boasts of certain changes that give it an upmarket appeal. To start with, it gets a new radiator grille upfront along with a new headlamp cluster. Furthermore, the LED DRLs are redesigned as well. These elements together impart a fresh appeal to the Hector Plus’ face.

On the sides, nothing has been changed. New design for the alloy wheels, however, would’ve been welcomed. Moving over to the rear facet, the Hector Plus features a resculpted boot lid and bumper. The tail lamps are now sleeker and elegant than those seen on Hector. Also, they now miss out on the red reflector strip that made them look like lightbar. The Hector Plus uses identically the same underpinnings as the Hector. Therefore it measures identical to Hector in terms of overall width and height. However, thanks to new bumpers, it is now longer by 65mm.

Interior of the Hector Plus features a big difference in comparison to the outgoing Hector. With the Plus suffix, it now gets one extra row of seats but one less seat in the second row. In place of a comfy bench that was seen on the Hector, the Hector Plus gets a set of captain chairs in the second row. These are likely to be even more supportive than the regular bench seat. Also, on the Hector Plus, the interior is finished in a combination of black and tan leather, whereas the Hector came upholstered in grey leather. With the third-row in place, it now loses out on the 587 litres of boot volume that 5-seater Hector offered. Also, with the 3rd-row folded flat, it is smaller by 65 litres, in comparison to the Hector.

The former also gets the option of a 48V mild-hyrbid tech.. The oil burner, on the other hand, is an FCA-sourced 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged mill, which churns out 170 PS of peak power and 350 Nm of peak power. The transmission duties on this engine can only be had performed by a 6-speed MT only.
